Velvet (born 2016) is a good example of just how difficult it is to predict the colour or style of cria. Her sire is Bingo and Dam Chantelle. that makes her a full sister to Rosie – but they are completely different. Velvet got the better deal with her fibre, both in density and fineness, but Rosie got the spots! Some of Chantelle’s cria have been very lively (Spartacus and Enid come to mind!) but Velvet is much more placid, although she is also very well grown, as they all are before weaning – keeping Chantelle rather skinny!
