Introduction to alpacas: Conformation, Fibre and Breeding: This full day workshop will cover what to look for in your first alpacas, keeping breeding females, stud males, shearing and using your fleeces. Again, practical and hands on.
Alpaca Breeding, Mating, Birthing and Cria Care: Get started with breeding and birthing your alpacas and having healthy cria. This full day workshop is aimed at new or inexperienced alpaca breeders and will cover choosing your breeding males and females and different mating methods. Care of the dam through pregnancy and whilst lactating. The actual birthing and common reasons for owner intervention. Cria care and weaning will also be included. Practical and hands on where possible (sorry I don’t expect to be able to arrange a birth for every workshop!).
Make Alpacas Your Business: Have you always wanted to turn your love of alpacas into a business, but never got started? Perhaps you have a small business, but want it to grow? Maybe you just want the alpacas to self finance! Whatever the reason you want to make money from your alpacas, this workshop at Mullacott Alpacas will have you turn those dreams into reality. The workshop will cover choosing the right line(s) of business for you; how to sell your services/products; your brand and USP (unique selling point); marketing and publicity; turning leads into firm business. Then there are all the practicalities – insurance, risk assessment, finances, contracts, tax, VAT, type of company etc etc etc. By the end of the day you will have a plan in place to actually make your dreams come true.
Training Skills Workshop: How to train people about alpacas. If you are planning to run workshops about alpacas, their care, history, training, or even how to give effective briefings before your alpacas go out on a trek, then this workshop is for you. Suitable if you’re new to teaching or looking to brush up your skills, this session is packed with tips and tricks to make learning enjoyable and effective. We will cover barriers to learning, how adults learn, effective and varied training methods, lesson planning, health and safety and risk assessment and so much more you need to know to train groups.
Each workshop runs from 10.00 – 16.30, costs £95.00 per person, hot lunch and other refreshments provided. Please note, any of these workshops can be completed as a stand alone day, or in any combination or order. Pick and mix to suit your needs!
Kate will also put together a bespoke workshop for you. This can be delivered at Mullacott Alpacas or she will come to your premises. If you have alpacas she will incorporate them into the training.
