Just as we celebrate Chloe reaching the great age of 23, sadly today was the day when little Skittles lost his fight for life. He was a 2023 cria, but sadly was diagnosed with a serious heart defect at about 4 months of age. We always knew his life would be short and Julie Irwin took on his care as soon as he was properly weaned and he was ready to live with her small group of boys. He stayed with fellow cria, and friend,Alvey until the end. Thank you Julie for the high quality of life you gave him. … See MoreSee Less

I’m sorry for your loss but I have no doubt he received the best care and had the best life with the other boys and good pal Alvey. ❤️
Thank you to Kate, Simon, vet Jenny, Julie, and alpaca mom Angel for all the love and care you provided to this sweet boy during his too short life, and thank you to Alvey for being his best buddy.

Aw poor wee Skittles, he was lovely, but he had such care and love in his short life. I feel sad today reading this because my beautiful wee 20 year old cat crossed the rainbow bridge last Friday, seven months after his twin. Sending condolences to all who were involved with Skittles.

So sad.. Poor Skittles!.. Sorry for the loss o this beautiful boy.. RIP little man xxx 💔 😢 🌈
Chloe move from my farm to Rosie Moffat’s farm nearly five years ago, with a friend a year older, and three young females. Her neck was bent from arthritis and her head only turns easily one way. She struggled to keep body condition on at mine. Rosie has given her amazing care. Lots of putting on and taking off her coat to suit the weather, very careful feeding, without others being able to tuck into her rations, not forgetting lots of love. Rosie- she looks amazing, thank you so much for looking after Nana. … See MoreSee Less

You should check with the Guinness Book of world records – she must be very close to the title of oldest alpaca ever. We held the record with them for oldest llama for awhile.

I tried to get a nice photo of Kayda before shearing, but she kept wanting to give kisses! Kayda means Little Dragon in Barbados Patois I believe. A Barbadian friend watched her birth with me.
Just posted for you loyal subscribers.

Beautiful! Do you ever give them treats like we give pets treats? They all seem to congregate around you when you're out. They are so lovely!
Ah Kayda, always a favorite, so glad she was a keeper! Will you breed her this year?
Beautiful colors!!

How interesting, glad this will group will be together.
Merci ,on apprends beaucoup, vous êtes super Par contre, pas de melange de sexe. ?
Very interesting….had no idea. I know horses and other herd animals are not too happy alone, so this makes perfect sense though. Thank you!
Same sex? We cannot mix male and female in the same herd?
Great Information very informative..alpacas are beautiful. Xx

That tail is just too much! Crazy adorable! This is a perfect photo!
So cute and so BIG! Great little guy and great mom! Was there any evidence of that phantom twin, or just completely gone? I read an article about ovulation of more than one egg in camelids, apparently not so rare, but hardly ever successfully taken to term.
So so sweet and so white
Awww. Look at that sassy little tail!! Cuteness!! ❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful cria!!
LEGZ ALMIGHTY!!!!😅❤️
I love the way they are positioned, they look so cute especially Halfpenny.x❤️

Glad you presented this again so that folks could hear the commentary as the birth progressed.
Considering the size of the cria I’m not surprised.❤️
All Sorts definitely seemed out of sorts for a few seconds when she wasn't sure what was happening. I cringed as she laid down. I loved her going into Mama mode the moment she sensed that cria on the ground. (It's so hard not to humanize when animals instinctively do what they are designed to do. ) Thanks again for sharing your alpaca knowledge and experience. I do find it fascinating, and good/positive distraction from my own troubles!
Is she a first time mum
I love watching these videos from Ct. USA. I enjoy guessing baby names
Thank you SO much for this lovely video!❤️💋💋And the commentary!❤️You are amazing and do a superb job!❤️Lots of love ❤️ and God bless you ALL for your wonderful work and Simon for his assistance, well done!❤️💋XXX ❤️💋❤️💋
What a wonderful birth. She needed a little help with Gloria's big size and you gave her just enough. All Sorts was very happy 😊 with your help.
This is so lovely. The way Mum keeps turning to look and then seems so relieved when she sees her cria. x
Before the birthing season is over do you think you will get to the letter Z?
She looks like asking for assistance, so lovely!!!
What a beautiful experience. To watch. ♥️
Thank you and so glad no problems.🥰
I love her name. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely precious moments ❤️
The person who is filming should put cameras on the ground and help poor animal
Beautiful. And so tiny & cute 🩷
Congratulations on the new baby being born
Do they ever have twins?
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
💛

Our Alpacas
We have friendly, well socialised alpacas, we know them all by name and by their individual characters. Read their individual profiles to find out what they are really like! We have breeding girls and stud boys that are with us permanently, whilst we usually sell all their offspring as fibre producers, lamb and chicken guards, or as breeding animals

Latest Arrivals
Our cria (baby alpacas) are usually born between April and June. I am keeping our Facebook page (Mullacott Alpacas) up to date with news and photos. Please have a look and like us! Have a look at our new arrivals, find out how they got their names and check back for photos of them as they develop. They will be weaned once they reach five to six months of age and can then go to new homes.
Appaloosa alpacas are relatively rare, with Leopard Appaloosa being one of the rarest colour patterns of all. Mullacott Alpacas has four different gene lines and so has an exciting breeding program of mating Leopard and Harlequin Appaloosas to other Leopard and Harlequin appaloosas.

About Us
We have owned alpacas since 1997 and moved to Lower Mullacott Farm in 2002, from Martinslade in Wiltshire, when the alpacas outgrew our smallholding there. We have fully renovated the farmhouse and it is now rented out in the summer as a 5* Holiday Home (High View Farmhouse). Our visitors love to hand feed the alpacas and sometimes even give them a cuddle.
