Mullacott alpacas Posts
Drench day today. We give a vitamin B12, Cobalt. Selenium and Zinc drench every 4 weeks or so. This is in addition to the mineral/vitamin pellets they get every day. We know our soil doesn’t have much, if any, selenium and alpacas need this. Zinc seems very important in skin health.
Amazingly just 45 minutes to drench 87 alpacas in four groups (skinny mums and cria, less skinny mums and cria, non-mums, adult males).

May I know the Drench come together with cobalt, zinc, selenium etc or you mix it by yourself?
Oh they all take the drench so well you can really see how important your handling exercises are.
They really are easy to handle. I am always quite impressed with you and others who work with the cria and Alpacas.
Aw so cute it looks like they can’t wait to have their turn! Another very interesting glimpse at their care and your amazing devotion to them all. Thanks for sharing.x
I just wanted to say I love your Alpacas. Are they naturally sweet and evenly tempered or because they love you and their environment, happiness all around❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You and Simon always show us the best practices, you make it look easy and the animals are in such beautiful condition! What a good life you all have—and I imagine the constant exercise is keeping you both young and fit! 🧡☺️
Can you tell me what this drench is called please with the B12, Cobalt etc. Do you get it online or at a rural store? Thanks
Beautiful animals and SO well looked after by all of you!❤️💋I love every single one of these videos of these gorgeous Alpacas!❤️💋Thank you SO much and for the informative commentary with them all!❤️You take SO much trouble and it's very much appreciated!❤️💋XXX ❤️💋❤️💋
Ha! I was expecting them to be "rained" on… it's like booster "shots"…
Your Alpacas are so lovely to handle…I can tell you take such excellent care of them. They are definitely an animal that need careful, and regular handling from day one basically. If you get an older Alpaca that hasn't had this they are virtually impossible to re-train. I love your posts and you're so passionate about it all. I hope it inspires people to keep them as pets on lifestyle blocks. Also, they are great companion paddock mates for horses and very easy to look after as they don't need much grass.
They are gorgeous . I want one
Love u Alpacas im from the Philippines..
I love ❤️ their cute little faces
Im laughing coz i group my girls into fat girls and skinny girls. Special care! I only have about 8 boys so they don’t get that luxury!
Love the way you take care if these babies!!!!
How many have you got in the whole herd and what does the selenium do for the alpacas 🦙🦙🌈🩵🩷

So happy for her and Cocktail, for you and Simon, for Jenny and her veterinary staff, and all the volunteers who helped out. What a recovery! I love seeing her surrounded by the others keeping her with protectors on either side, and to see Cocktail leaping joyfully brings joy to me also. Well done, all!
So so so happy for GinFizz and all of you. I can hear the excitement in your voice. 🤗

It's been a long journey. ❤️
Wow! Isn't that amazing . The wounds are all covered up!
Yay!!!!! She may be more adjusted to extra touches since she to have so much handling! She may come for a cuddle now, possibly! Happy for her and everyone who worked so hard to turn her around!
Testament to all the amazing care she has received from the vets carers and yourselves, she really is adorable 🥰
This success is all about fast action, focus on the positive that she could heal, faith in vet and caregivers who were always thinking outside the box, financial backers, and Gin Fizzes determination to care for her cria. Miracles do happen!
Great video. She really looks pleased with herself.
I'm sure with all the attention she has received over the past while. she has become accustomed to people. After all, you are family! Congratulations Gin Fizz on your marvelous recovery! Thanks to you and the vet team! Sad she lost her baby but there will be another.

So pleased you traced it but it pays in the long runto test them.x
The cria next to Xavier at the poo pile is doing “sniff and smile.” Why would a youngster do that at a poo pile? He seems young to be trying to suss out a breeding female. Or is he just fantasizing about what he will do when he is older? 😍😉😍
That has to be a big job getting the individual poo samples, glad you were able to identify the EMac and treating him quickly. Do you isolate him during treatment ?
Aww bless him so pleased you found out what's wrong and are treating it quickly It must be difficult getting the samples though 😅 😬 😄
It's quit windy there, so I missed some of what you were saying, but glad to hear that you caught the EMAC early so you can treat Xavier. He's quite a handsome boy!
Beautiful animals love them, hope he's ok
Thank you for all you do for these babies
It is so good you caught it early. Lester and Jami loss a less than a year old Alpaca from a parasite. As you said Xavier doesn't look sick. Also what a great name.
Thank you for this video!❤️💋It's such a good thing that you check their poo and can find parasites quickly but that's the level of care you give to your Alpacas!❤️💋Hope Zavier is cleared quickly but the treatment should do that soon. How long does the treatment take?❤️Love and God bless you ALL!❤️💋XXX ❤️❤️❤️
You must have a job, catching them as they poo. So happy when specific parasites are identified.
The care you give is phenomenal! Thank you for that and for teaching us how to do it right!!
Aw glad you caught it quickly. How often do you test them and will you test Xavier after treatment to check that it’s gone? Xx
Glad it was found before things could get worse. And glad only 1 had it.
I am getting the idea that these lovely alpacas have very sensitive systems that need careful nurturing.
Never a dull moment at the farm. You are all so vigilant.
Just love these babies 💕
cant hear with the wind
Oh no hope you can sort it quickly love x
How often do you do a fecal test?
Poor sweet baby.
She is so pretty
Good you have caught,💖💖💖💖
So glad you identified EMac in Xavier and can get him treated. 🥰
Beautiful color

Wonderful news! So happy for Gin Fizz and all of you who have taken care of her. Prayers answered! ❤️🙏
It’s good to know Gin Fizz has done so well. She looks in great condition considering all she’s been through xx 💖
Yours are beautiful!!! Another page I follow just has four alpacas. They were separated. The mom and daughter were at one barn and the dad and son at another. Dad and son got very sick. They took them to Texas A&M University Vet Hospital and were able to save the dad but not the son. It was heartbreaking. But I think this one parasite was causing a lot of sickness around Texas as TA&M had several alpaca there and other farms had losses also. I think the heat and dampness from heavy rains made the parasites rampant. I LoVe your farm! And love hearing the faint hums from the girls! 🥰
So glad Gin Fizz will soon be back to 100%.
So pleased for gin fizz and cocktail. It's such a credit to you how you look after all the alpacas. I also love hearing all the updates . Thank-you x
Thrilled with this news… I am sad for the loss of so many pregnancies. 😢 Each one of these animals is so sweet and I'm glad they have you and your "crew" watching out for them. 🙏
I love following these updates on GinFizz and all of the others. This site is sure taught me things about the Alpaca. I am so glad that GinFizz is getting stronger every day. Thanks for sharing your life with these beautiful animals
I,m so happy to see them doing well. Well done to everyone who helped them through the horrible trauma.
Absolutely love Gin Fizz's stockings and suspenders. She is looking rather fetching, raunchy and oh so Parisienne. Makes me smile every time I see her. Which is so lovely after the horrors of the dog attack and the pregnancy losses. Speaks testament of the love and care from yourselves, vet and volunteers.❤
She’s looking really well. Hopefully won’t be long till she’s back to her normal self. Xx
Wow I was so worried for these 2 , they were well taken care of and they are healing beautifully !
Brilliant news 👏👏 well done all of you x
Sad news to share, Chloe (aged 23.5 years) and living with Rosie Moffat just down the road from us, passed away today. (Video is of granddaughter Claudia and great granddaughter Onyx earlier this year). She lived with us until four years ago when she retired to Rosie’s lovely home and wonderful care. She was mother to many cria with us, including Ellie, who is mum to Claudia, who is mum to Onyx, her genetics go on. Both Claudia and onyx are still in our herd. Here’s to remembering a lovely girl who has lived a long and great life. RIP Chloe and thank you Rosie for looking after her so well in her later years. … See MoreSee Less

About Us
We have owned alpacas since 1997 and moved to Lower Mullacott Farm in 2002, from Martinslade in Wiltshire, when the alpacas outgrew our smallholding there. We have fully renovated the farmhouse and it is now rented out in the summer as a 5* Holiday Home (High View Farmhouse). Our visitors love to hand feed the alpacas and sometimes even give them a cuddle.
